Many people might be familiar with the battle in the Chinese movie, which often uses a silver spoon dipped in the food to detect toxins that may cause death. Our design here uses the same concepts and principles to make the walls and the furniture tell the inhabitants whether the air around them is toxic or not.

'Climber' is a design work that we sent to participate in the silverware product design contest with Designboom many years ago, and at that time we received the Honorable Mention Award for being able to use the properties of the material well worth it.

Designing from the strength of the material

Silver has its important properties as it is very active in reacting with chemicals. It can also change its color especially when reacted with sulfur compounds. In this design, we use silver to detect sulfur dioxide in the air by manufacturing in thin sheets so that they can be used as linings on the walls and furniture. Its beautiful patterns also make it easy for people to incorporate at their homes.

At present, sulfur dioxide is an important air toxin that is found in car exhausts and in the areas with coal mining. This toxin is harmful to the tissue and can cause chest discomfort, coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath and death. The design here that we combine the properties for the detection of sulfur dioxide in everyday life is our attempt to make the beauty of art harmonize with the interior design and improve the quality of life.
